Crochet this tote as a beach bag or a summer carrying bag.

This project is easy to complete because it only requires the use of the single crochet stitch. It is likely to be more time consuming than some beginning projects, however, mainly due to the finishing of the bag.

  • Yarn needle

To Make the Bottom of the Bag

  • Chain 38.
  • 1 single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across.
  • Chain 1. Turn. 1 single crochet in each single crochet across.
  • Repeat the last step 13 more times.
  • Bind off.

Make two pieces by completing the following steps twice. These two pieces will be the front and the back of the bag.

Make two pieces by completing the following steps twice. These will be the sides of the bag.

  • Repeat the last step until the piece measures 24.5 inches from the beginning.

Finishing

  • Crochet the front piece to the first side piece.
  • Attach the back to the other side of the first side piece.
  • Attach the second side piece to the other side of the back piece.
  • Attach the other side of the second side piece to the front, connecting the bag’s four sides.
  • Next, connect the bottom of the bag to the bottom edges of the front of the bag, the first side piece, the back of the bag, and finally the second side piece.
  • Attach the handles to the bag by crocheting them to the wrong side of the front and back of the bag along the top edge. Place the handles about an inch from the edges where the front and back meet the sides.?Finish by sewing in all loose ends with the yarn needle.
