Use super soft Spa yarn to crochet this light, spring scarf.

Crocheting scarves does not only have to be with thick wools and done in the snowy wintertime. Lately, there has been a popularity of fashion scarves, and when using a light, soft yarn in a bright color, a crocheted scarf can be an excellent Spring or Summer wardrobe addition. Try this simple, double crochet scarf in a soft yarn for a fun Spring project to crochet.

A wonderful, inexpensive Springtime yarn is Caron's Spa. Spa is a soft blend of bamboo (about 25%) and acrylic (about 75%) yarn made by Caron International. It is a great yarn to use for Spring and Summer crochet projects because it is light and soft, and it is also available in a variety of springtime colors. The pictured scarf, for instance, is crocheted with Rose Bisque yarn. The yarn can be machine washed in warm water on the gentle cycle and can be machine dried on low, delicate.

Crocheting this scarf is very simple; it only requires the knowledge of working a chain and using the double crochet stitch. Therefore, it is a great project for beginners to crochet. It is also a project that those more advanced can complete rather quickly, likely in only a few hours.

Materials for Scarf Project

1 Skein Rose Bisque Spa Yarn

Size I - 9 Crochet Hook

Measuring Tape

Yarn Needle

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern

Ch - Chain

DC - Double Crochet

Instructions to Crochet Scarf

  • Ch 14.
  • DC in fourth Ch from hook. DC in each Ch to the end of the row.
  • Ch 3. Turn. DC in each DC across.
  • Repeat the last row until the piece measures five feet in length.
  • Bind off.
  • Sew in loose ends.

This super soft scarf will make an excellent accent to a plain outfit, or it would be a nice handmade gift to give. This project can be made in variations by using more than one color of yarn to create a striped pattern, or it can be made slightly wider by adding more chains to the original starting chain. Likewise, more length can be added as desired, too, to suit the recipient of the gift or the wearer of the scarf.

Also, the scarf could be made by holding two different colored strands of Spa together, creating a unique color effect. That would require the use of a larger crochet hook, and the scarf would not be quite as light an airy as the resulting scarf from the original pattern.
