Knitting this small purse can be done in next to no time by using large needles and two strands of mercerized cotton held together. Mercerized cotton will give the purse a nice, smooth look to it. The vertical weave pattern brings interest to an otherwise very basic purse pattern, which could be adapted to be a basic stockinette stitch purse if the vertical weave pattern is not desired. The finished purse will measure about nine inches wide by six inches tall with a 16 inch handle.

- Row 2: P

Finishing
- With the wrong sides together, sew the front panel to the back panel along sides and the bottom, using the yarn needle.
- Also using the yarn needle, sew the handle to each side where the panels are joined to one another.
- Sew in any loose ends.
- Turn purse right-side-out.
- Using the sewing needle and thread, sew the button to the center of the back panel of the inside of the purse, as pictured in the photo.
- There is no need to make a button hole because the weave of the purse should be large enough for a button hole.
For variations on the purse pattern, sew a zipper into the inside of the top of the purse rather than a button. For an easy decorative change, attach a toggle or another fun clasp instead of a plain button. For a more whimsical design, use two different colors of mercerized cotton held together at the same time, such as a light neutral color and a more vibrant color, rather than two of the same color.
