Crafting gifts for men can be a challenge. Sometimes it seems that though there are thousands of pretty patterns available for women and girls, there are very few that men would actually appreciate. When crocheting for men, simple and classic are always safe bets. Select a color that is neutral and a basic pattern for success in creating a handmade gift for any man.
This pattern is for a simple crochet scarf that can be completed by even those new to crochet. The techniques required are creating a slip knot, making chain stitches, turning the work, making single crochet stitches, fastening off, and weaving in loose ends. A Note About Yarn Choice
While any bulky-weight yarn will work for this pattern, be conscious of the care instructions. The reason Homespun works well is because it not only has a soft feel and interesting texture, it is machine washable and can go in the dryer. Many yarn types, such as wools, must be hand washed, so they might not be the best choice for gift-giving. If using a yarn that cannot be machine washed, it would be courteous to provide a note with the gift so that the recipient is aware of the care instructions.
