Baby Sock Knitting Pattern - Jeris Swanhorst
Knit these simple baby socks by using Bernat Softee Baby yarn and size 7 double pointed knitting needles.

Materials

  • 1 skein Bernat Softee Baby in Lemon
  • 1 set of 4 double pointed knitting needles, size 7
  • Yarn needle

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern

  • R - Round
  • K - Knit
  • P - Purl
  • sts - stitches
  • N - needle

Instructions for Cuff of Sock

  • Cast on 24 sts.
  • Divide onto 3 needles, 8 sts on each.
  • Join in the round.
  • R1: (K1, P1) around
  • R2: (K1, P1) around
  • R3: (K1, P1) around
  • Cuff made.

Instructions for Ankle

  • Knit 12 more rounds.

For Heel

  • Place 4 sts from N3 onto new needle.
  • K the first 4 sts off N1 (for heel).
  • Place the remaining 16 sts on N2 (for instep).

  • Working back and forth on 8 heel sts:
  • Row 1: Purl
  • Row 2: Knit
  • Row 3: Purl
  • Row 4: Knit
  • Row 5: Purl 3, Purl 2 together, P1, turn.
  • Row 6: K3, K2 together, turn.
  • Row 7: Purl 3, P2 together, turn.
  • Row 8: Knit
For Instep and Foot

  • Pick up and K 9 sts from the left side of the heel.
  • Knit across N2.
  • Pick up and K 9 sts from the right side of the heel.
  • Using the same needle, Knit 1, Increase 1 in the next stitch.
  • Slide the remaining 3 sts from the heel onto the next needle.
  • N1 should have 12 sts; N2 should have 16 sts; N3 should have 12 sts.

  • Next R: N1: Knit to the last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: Knit. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Next R: Knit
  • Next R: N1: K to the last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: Knit. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Next R: Knit
  • Next R: N1: K to the last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: Knit. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Knit next 8 Rounds.
Shape the Toe

  • Next R: N1: K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: K1, K2 together, K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Next R: Knit
  • Next R: N1: K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: K1, K2 together, K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Next R: Knit
  • Next R: N1: K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N2: K1, K2 together, K to last 3 sts, K2 together, K1. N3: K1, K2 together, K to the end of the needle.
  • Next Row: Knit
  • Next Row: (K2 together) around

Finishing

  • Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
  • Using the yarn needle, draw yarn through the remaining stitches.
  • Pull tightly and fasten securely by sewing.
  • Sew in loose ends.
  • Repeat all steps for second sock.

Perfect. There is a grandbaby on the way and I was looking for a quick and easy sock/bootie pattern to go with a blanket. These should work up fast!
